Skin cancer
Skin cancer is the commonest form of cancer. Most skin cancers are due to sun exposure, with a latency (time between exposure and the cancer) of 20 years or more. Cumulative exposure leads to skin cancer, and solariums are just as dangerous as the sun. Squamous cell cancer, basal cell cancer and melanoma are the commonest forms.
There are other skin cancers that are not sun related, which are usually very malignant. Any new or changing lump or sore should be seen by an experienced doctor and a sample (biopsy) taken if necessary to confirm the diagnosis.
